Description
Release tension, boost your mood, and heal from traumatic experiences with therapist-approved activities in this easy-to-use guide to somatic therapy.
The effects of a traumatic event are more than just mental. Trauma can manifest in the body as chronic pain, sluggishness, and even depressed mood. Somatic psychology is an alternative therapy that analyzes this mind-body connection and helps you release pent-up tension and truly heal from past trauma. The Somatic Therapy Workbook offers a primer to this life-changing approach as a means for personal growth, designed for beginners or those already using somatic techniques in their current therapeutic process. Ideal for those suffering from PTSD and other trauma-based afflictions, this safe and approachable look at somatic therapy includes:
– journal exercises
– body-centered prompts for personal inquiry
– movement exercises
– real-life experiments
Readers will come away with a new ability to process and accept their emotions and an understanding of how to live a somatically-oriented and embodied life.
I really enjoyed the layout of this book. It’s a resource of information pertaining to Somatic therapy.
The Book is filled with work sheets for clients to do at home.
This was well worth the investment for my business.
The book is amazing. She talks you through very detailed somatic work where you can do on your own at your own pace. I know Livia in person and she is an amAzing therapist and a mentor. We are so Lucky that she spends her time and talent to write a book that would benefit everyone. I highly recommend her. She also teaches online classes. Just look up to her website and you will find her amazing offerings.
The book is written very simple language. I love her practice suggestions. It is a fundamental book for somatic psychology.
The Somatic Therapy Workbook is exactly what I’ve been needing, a supportive way to get out of my head and into my body. I’ve been feeling really “talked out” in therapy lately, and while I still get a lot of benefit from that service, I’ve been wanting to more deliberately engage in somatic therapy practices. I also have been practicing yoga for a long time, but my somatic practice there has existed in a different bubble than my intentional emotional processing.
I really appreciate the clarity around which the author explains somatic therapy (because I’ve only had a general idea in my head previously) and each of the explorative exercises. Having space in the book to engage in reflection makes this feel like I am co-authoring this experience, rather than reading a how-to book – which also then leaves me feeling that whatever my experience is, it’s the perfect experience. I am really looking forward to spending some quality time with this book and my body!
I love everything about this book. Livia’s words are educational, supportive and humble. This book deeply honors the lineage, is profoundly informational on the topic, and is clearly organized in a very user friendly way. It is practical, accessible and helpful for anyone on their journey of embodiment, no matter where they are coming in from. I am so thankful for this resource and can’t wait to share it with my clients, my family and everyone that can get their eyes and hands on this book! Thank you, Livia! Deep bow to this offering.
