I’m studying to be a therapist and I’ve thrown myself into learning all I can about perosonality disorders as that is my passion. This book lines up really well with all the stuff I had learned from other books and professors while providing me with some new information. This book is written in a way that’s easy to understand and I think everyone should read this.
It is concise and readable. It clearly explains the behaviors of sociopaths,etc. The author is not heavy-handed in his descriptions and advice. There is a lot of information on how to pick up the signs and signals of these psychological predators.
I was in a personal relationship with a sociopath for 4 years. I knew something was very wrong with that person but was not sure what exactly. I was abused and manipulated by that person and finally broke up with him. When I was reading this book, it made me very emotional remembering constant abuse, manipulation, cheating & lying by my sociopathic ex. This book described him to a tee. Im thankful for this book and hope it will help others identify and protect themselves from sociopaths & psychopaths.
It mentions schizoid as a personality type. There is no such thing as schizoid. There’s more that really isn’t correct. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
What an amazing book !! It makes every concept easy to understand. I love how Clarence Rivers went in deep details about every single mental illness in order to understand their similarities and differences. Strongly recommend this book !!
