Description
A somatic counselor offers tools for developing a deeper, more awakened relationship with your body through sensation, breath, and movement
As a foundation for a contemplative life, the body can both literally and metaphorically help us wake up. Breathing, sensing, and moving—the ways we know our body—carry tremendous contemplative potential, and yet, we so often move through our days unaware of or in conflict with our physical selves.
In Bodyfulness, renowned somatic counselor Christine Caldwell offers a practical guide for living an embodied contemplative life, embracing whatever body we are in. Each chapter offers insights and practices that help us recover our lost physical wisdom—to integrate our bodies with mindfulness, to deal with emotions, and to develop attuned relationships. Bodyfulness inspires us to reclaim a body-centered contemplative life and challenges us to harness our potential to effect social and personal transformation in this body now.
Needed this for class. Arrived very quickly, perfect condition. The book itself is well written and includes TONS of Bodyfulness practices to try.
A rich, structured and thoughtful look at the wisdom of the body, waiting to be harnessed by our wonderous attention.
I’m not a big fan of made up words. I usually jump to the conclusion that a made up word means the author is superficial, trying to make something simple sound more significant than it is. Often there’s a program attached, something you have to fork over a few hundred dollars for so that you, too, can learn the intricacies of this new thing.
I’m glad, this time, that I did my research, read the effusive reviews, found out that the author is the real deal, and bought the book. It is a life-changer. If you have any interest in becoming more embodied, and more contemplative about your body and your life, this is the book to buy.
I love this book so much. Packed full of wisdom and insights. As a yoga teacher I found so much amazing and well-organized content I can use in my classes. Highly recommended.
I love this book- theory and practice all in one and such an important topic. Our world is crazed in large part because we are led away not toward a deep, nuanced relationship with our bodies and the way it is integral to all our relationships – micro and macro, personal and collective. Caldwell is a leading authority here and it’s obvious. Well worth buying and owning as a timely read and timeless reference.
