Excellent daily reference and was essential in preparing for the BCABs. After working in the field for years I decided to work toward a new certification. I thought I knew everything, or almost everything- I was wrong! Of all the texts and reading required in my program, this was the most useful for passing with flying colors. I use it at least once a week for everything from making referrals to finding the best phraseology for reports.
I skimmed some other reviews and just want to add that I love having a text I can physically hold with trusted sources rather than having to google and sort through the information I need to find reliable sites.
If you have the 3rd edition then you’ll love the fourth. I really do not know what all the negative reviews are about. I have not read enough to pick up on all the typos that everyone mentions, however the quality of the book is similar to any textbook. The binding is fine, pages are slightly thin, but it is a big book so if the pages were thicker it would double the size of the book. I’ve always found these books as a good supplementary to Cooper. The examples and wording is easier to understand. I still like Cooper a lot but it is very technical, especially for new learners. I know it’s a lot but I’d recommend getting both. If the 3rd edition is significantly cheaper and you don’t want to spend the money on the 4th edition of this book then that is still a good option. Either way you can’t go wrong. I highly recommend this.
The most important introduction of Applied Behavior Analysis, the Science of change. It gives a overview of more than 2000 replicable behavior experiments and present those in a protocol format so that change agents can implement this technology as best as possible. This is not easy, but refreshing in comparison to the traditional indirect change methods.
