Description
“Don’t be so sensitive.” “Just get it over it.” “You’re just so intense”…
If you’re a highly sensitive person or an empath, you’ve probably heard these statements many times. Maybe you feel different because you’re just more tuned in and sensitive than most people you know. You notice things others don’t. You can easily pick up on the mood of the room. You’re bothered by small irritations, noise, and bright light. Sometimes the world just feels overwhelming, and you wonder what is wrong with you. The good news? Being highly sensitive isn’t weird or wrong. It’s a perfectly normal trait held by 15-20% of the population.
The Little-Known Power of Being Finely Tuned
As a sensitive person, you may believe you’re weak and less resilient than others. This belief may have been reinforced all of your life, but nothing could be further from the truth. Highly sensitive people and empaths are gifted with unique skills making them more creative, intuitive, conscientious, and empathic. They are evolutionarily hard-wired this way to benefit the larger community, as they are the first to notice and respond to subtitles, moods, and danger. They are also first to feel deeper, positive emotions as well.
Thriving Daily As a Sensitive

I found this book after browsing Reddit recommendations for books on being highly sensitive. I’ve read a lot of books on the subject so was not expecting anything new but was surprised to find this one to be one of the most helpful ones I’ve read.. it’s hard to describe, the writing is just direct and engaging. Highly recommend!
I am 77 years old and have just recently learned that I am a Sensitive Person. Thanks to this book, I now understand why I feel “separate” when with a group of friends, why I struggled in my professional life, why my marriage failed. It is a wonderful feeling to be set free! I can use the lessons learned from this book to step forward with confidence. Thank you Barrie Davenport!
A lovely gift. Discovered by mere coincidence while I was searching for how to “fine tune” the volume on my computer speakers. As a man in a leadership role, my “confidence” and “toughness” are under constant scrutiny, and I’ve struggled to meet others’ expectations for rapid productivity. This gave me perspective on how my struggles are part and parcel of some of the traits I know and love about myself — my ability to perceive emotions and group dynamics, to connect with others, to feel deeply.
This book was so helpful. I learned so many important and useful things about being a HSP.
It’s a blessing to be sensitive in a dark world. This book confirms that empaths don’t walk alone. Great tips & suggestions.
